2020 Ford F-150 vs 2020 RAM 1500

The Ford lineup includes six different engine options that range from a 3.3-liter V6 to a 3.0-liter Power Stroke® turbo diesel. The RAM 1500 truck lineup limits you to four options, which means you might not be able to find the perfect complement to your specific needs. The RAM 1500's V8 engines deliver impressive horsepower and torque numbers, but they fail to live up to the output of the Ford's 3.5-liter, twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost option. It delivers 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, best in its class for both.

Need something that can tow? The RAM 1500 does just fine at a maximum of 12,750 pounds, but it can't match the F-150's towing capacity, a maximum of 13,200 pounds! The Ford F-150 offers a best-in-class payload capacity of 2,309 pounds, just outclassing the RAM 1500's 2,302 pounds!

Looking to back up a trailer without worry? The Ford F-150 offers the Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, which helps navigate your trailer load safely with a simple turning of a knob. This is class-exclusive to the Ford F-150, so the RAM 1500 doesn't offer this feature. While the RAM 1500 does offer a class-best 45.2 inches of legroom for rear passengers, it does so by limiting front-row passengers with only 40.9 inches of legroom. Front-row passengers will find 43.9 inches of legroom in the Ford F-150.

If you're looking to stay connected while on the worksite, Ford offers the FordPass Connect® feature which provides 4G LTE Wi-Fi® for its passengers. This is notably lacking from the RAM 1500 lineup. Both options offer plenty of safety features, including a Blind-Spot Information System, lane-keeping, and pre-collision technology, but you'll need to pay more for the base model in the RAM 1500 lineup. The Ford F-150 is more affordable with the same technology.

Technology to Back Up the Hard Work

The F-150 is more than just a work truck; it also offers a wide array of intuitive and innovative technology to assist you in your daily life. A variety of available and standard LED lights - including LED box lights, LED trailer hitch lights, and more - let you work late into the night when unloading the cargo area. The class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ helps you guide heavy trailers where they need to go, while the flexible configurable BoxLink™ system provides more convenience. Many other trucks won't have the same level to help you tow and haul.

Designed for the Toughest Challenges

With the Ford F-150, you can expect a truck that can handle just about anything the road throws at you. The lineup boasts a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body, one of the few trucks on the road that can do so. This provides a sturdy foundation that allows the Ford F-150 tow a maximum of up to 13,200 pounds and showcases a best-in-class payload of 3,270 pounds - allowing you to manage more supplies than any other full-size pickup truck out there.
